Legal notice, privacy and terms

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Note for the operator, remove before publishing: the postal address and the contact address below are placeholders. Swiss law (UWG art. 3 para. 1 lit. s) requires a complete postal address and a working email address on a commercial website. Fill both in, in all four language versions, before this page goes live.

1. Who runs this site

OperatorPaweł Krawczyk
Address[STREET AND NUMBER], [POSTCODE] Kaisten AG, Switzerland

Legal formPrivate individual. Not entered in the Swiss commercial register, no VAT number.

Traversee is a personal project, not a company product.

2. Privacy

2.1 What is processed, and why

DataWhyKept
Email address Only if you enter it. It gives you access to the app, and it puts you on the list that is told when Pro opens. Until you ask for deletion
IP address at signup To stop a bot from filling the list. Stored with the member record, and separately in a counter that limits how many signups one address can send per hour. Counter: 24 hours
Access cookie trv_access Set only after you sign up. It is what keeps you logged in without a password. Strictly necessary for the service you asked for, so it needs no consent banner. 1 year, or until you delete it
Local storage in your browser Cached forecasts and your language choice, so the app is fast and does not refetch. This never leaves your device. Until you clear your browser data
Your chosen home base Used to compute drive times. It is sent to the routing services listed below and is not stored on our side. Not stored

No profiles are built, nothing is sold, and no data is shared for advertising.

2.2 Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 in cookieless mode: storage consent is set to denied before the tag loads, so no analytics cookie is set, IP addresses are truncated, and Google advertising signals are switched off. What is measured is page views and a few product events: opening the app, running a scan, opening the Pro gate, running the demo, joining the list. Processor: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Because this mode sets no identifier, visitor counts are estimates, not exact figures.

2.3 Services the app talks to

When you use the app, your IP address necessarily reaches the services that answer its requests. Each of them is reached directly by your browser:

2.4 Hosting

The site and its small database run on shared hosting from LH.pl sp. z o.o., Poznań, Poland, inside the EU. The host processes server log data on our behalf.

2.5 Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, for a correction, or for deletion, and you can object to the processing. One email to the address in section 1 is enough, and deletion is done without questions. Swiss residents may complain to the FDPIC (edoeb.admin.ch); people in the EU may complain to their national supervisory authority.

3. Terms of use

3.1 What the service is

Traversee ranks places in the Alps by hiking weather for a chosen day and time window, using public forecast models. It is a planning aid.

3.2 Mountain safety, read this one

A forecast is a model result, not a promise about the weather you will meet. Traversee gives no warranty that its scores, routes, drive times or maps are correct, current or complete. Mountain weather changes fast and locally. Deciding whether to start, continue or turn back is yours alone, and it belongs to you together with the responsibility for it. Check the official avalanche and weather bulletins, judge the conditions in front of you, and never treat a score in this app as a reason to go on.

3.3 Free and Pro

The free version covers today, tomorrow and the day after. Pro extends the horizon and adds route matching. Pro is not on sale yet. Leaving your address puts you on the waiting list at the founding price of CHF 24 per year, and that is not an order, not a payment obligation and not a contract. Nothing is charged, and no card is asked for. If and when Pro opens, you decide then.

3.4 Your access

Access works through a link tied to your address, without a password. Treat that link as personal: anyone who has it has your access. Tell us if it leaks and it will be replaced. You may use the app for your own hiking planning; copying the application, republishing it or reselling it is not permitted.

3.5 Availability

This is a small project, not an operated service with a guarantee. It can be unavailable, the free upstream data sources can fail, and features can change or disappear. No liability is accepted for loss caused by unavailability or by errors in the data, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

3.6 Changes and applicable law

These terms can change; the date at the top of this page says when they last did. Swiss law applies.
